Weekly market update, Jul 25, 2025
The Indian equity market indices ended lower for the fourth consecutive week amid mixed signals from Q1 earnings and cautious global sentiment weighed on investor confidence. The Nifty 50 and the Sensex closed 0.52 per cent and 0.36 per cent lower respectively for the week. The broader market indices underperformed the benchmarks as the BSE Midcap fell 1.70 per cent and the Smallcap declined by 2.49 per cent. In terms of sectoral performance this week, 13 out of 15 sectors declined, weighed by Nifty Media and Realty the most.
Looking ahead, In the coming week, US-India trade deal, US’s Fed decision, Q1 earnings, domestic key economic data, auto sales and FIIs flows are the key triggers for equity markets. According to foreign ministry on US-India trade deal, trade teams from both nations are currently involved in active negotiations on the Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA). The ongoing discussions aim to take a comprehensive approach to further enhance and deepen trade ties by improving mutual market access, lowering tariff and non-tariff barriers, and fostering closer integration of supply chains.
