Weekly market update, Sep 11, 2026

Indian equity markets Sensex and Nifty 50 declined for the week, as the escalating Middle East conflict pushed crude oil prices higher, raising concerns about inflation and global interest rates. For the week, the Nifty 50 declined around 2.09%, while the BSE Sensex fell 2.27%. The broader market indices, BSE 150 Midcap and BSE 250 Smallcap declined by 1.39% and 0.77% respectively. On the BSE sectoral front, most indices declined except BSE Healthcare. BSE IT was the major loser, down 5.37%, followed by Metal, down 2.59% and FMCG, down 1.72%.

Looking ahead, Indian equity markets are likely to remain volatile in the coming holiday-shortened week, with the US Federal Reserve’s interest-rate decision, domestic inflation data, crude oil prices and developments in West Asia emerging as the key factors influencing investor sentiment. Trading activity of foreign investors would influence the overall market trend. Markets will remain closed on Monday for Ganesh Chaturthi.
