Weekly market update, Jun 13, 2025

India’s benchmark equity indices declined this week, with Nifty 50 falling over 1.14%, while Sensex declined over 1.30%. The stock market indices dragged by escalating tensions in the Middle East, tariff-related uncertainty and foreign capital outflow. Broader market indices displayed mixed sentiment in comparison to the benchmark indices, The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices ended the week by slipping 0.90% and 0.13%, respectively. On sectoral front, it was mixed.

Looking ahead, In the coming week, analysts expect that markets are likely to remain volatile amid ongoing geopolitical uncertainty and crucial central bank meetings. The US Federal Reserve’s upcoming policy decision will be closely tracked, as market participants look for clarity on the timing and magnitude of potential rate cuts, especially in light of mixed economic signals. Domestically, the focus will remain on the progress of the monsoon, crude oil price trends, WPI inflation data, and FII activity.
